Will it work? My question is, what is my best option for an intel 10th Gen MoBo and a PSU preferably with wifi? Also is there anything I need to do before swapping the components over? What about windows? Will I have to buy a new license? Also what happens to the existing operating system on my SSD? Anyways, idk, I'm pretty choked at myself not really panicking just gonna go out and get the parts I need asap, can't live without my PC. Anyways, I was planning on getting a new MoBo, PSU and case at some point anyways because the thermals were not great on the current set up. I've taken my GPU out plenty of times in the past before I guess this time I just didn't push the lever down far enough and used a bit too much force. The GPU and all the components are fine except for the PCIE which is definitely fubar. Tonight I was trying to take the GPU out to change the thermal paste and somehow managed to rip the plastic housing right off the PCIE and it bent a bunch of the pins on it in to oblivion. I have a prebuilt Acer Predator orion-3000 with an i7-10700 and a Nvidia 3060 TI in it. This gets you native PCie 4.0 support on GPU and primary M.2 drives. HOestly, what I'd do is this: Buy reasonable 3600MHz CL16 RAM, and use the savings and sale ofthe X470 board to get a cost effective X570 Motherboard. This is down to the CPU and motherbaord combination, I'm not too up on X470 specification. From there it branches out to other PCie slots and M.2 sockets. The CPU has 16 lanes direct to GPU, another 4 Direct to primary M.2 slot, then another 4 (IIRC) down to the chipset. So if my 3090 takes 16 lanes on this mobo and each of my m.2 takes 4, would i be gimping the 300 down to 8 lanes if i add a pcie m.2 expansion card? (edited) >the 5950x has 24 lanes right? Is this motherboard dependent? Then i think there are non direct to cpu lanes. BE aware done properly it's a *very* involved and time consuming procedure, expect it to take days to find viable settings, and days-weeks to verify them to the point you'd be happy running them daily. () as an idea of what your'e getting into, if you've never OC'd RAm before. You'll be very lucky if it runs at XMP at 4000Mhz Cl14 () - it's *highly* likely you'll have to manually set OC Speeds and timings to get it stable, and verify it's stable. The RAM will be held back by the CPU, most likely. > but will the ram be held back by this mobo Probably a non-issue, but no harm looking at the case and cooler spec pages. PCPartPicker doesn't usually check for case dimensions and RAM clearances, so you need to check them yourself. > Note:Some physical dimension restrictions cannot (yet) be automatically checked, such as cpu cooler / RAM clearance with modules using tall heat spreaders. I'm sure it does, but you can check the cooler spec page. Just check if the cooler has an AM4 mounting bracket. > Note:The ARCTIC Freezer 34 eSports DUO CPU Cooler may require a separately available mounting adapter to fit the Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE AX V2 ATX AM4 Motherboard. Coolmaster 75 G Manual series#If you wanna make sure, the box should say something like Ryzen 5000 series ready. Not really an issue anymore since it's been a year since 5000 series came out and modern motherboards ship with the correct BIOS. If the motherboard is using an older BIOS version, upgrading the BIOS will be necessary to support the CPU.ī550 boards came before 5000 series CPUs, so older stock may not have the appropriate BIOS. > The Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE AX V2 ATX AM4 Motherboard supports the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor with BIOS version F10.
